This was an amazing project to be involved in. We were told from the start that this 1940 Chevy Pick-Up had to be a show-winner, so we knew it needed to be something special.
Paul Burnham from Burnham Autos took on the build and commissioned us to carry out the body and paintwork. Firstly we made a one-off custom paint colour that would set off the curvy bodywork nicely. We repaired and painted a wing to get the customer’s approval on the deep pearl green and quality of finish before steaming into this project.
We put all of our years of experience into this, using old school restoration methods, to transform this truck into the show-winner it is now. Its debut outing was to the NSRA Hot Rod Supernationals 2018 where it won Best In Show Participants Choice. Considering there were hundreds of immaculate hot rods on show from all over Europe, it was a huge achievement and great collaboration.
It was showcased on the NSRA stand at the Classic Motor Show 2018 in Birmingham’s NEC and was on the front page and the main feature in the January 2019 edition of Custom Car Magazine.
Nice job on the Chevy truck. Just done a 38 Chevy coupe. Painted it white pearl with a red flash. Where your hood opens from either side we made this one where it was one piece and opened from the back. Slides forward and up. I’ve got a customer that seen the green on the truck and wants to put that color on his truck. His truck is nothing special like this one. Buy just wants it green, and likes that color you used on the 40 truck. if you find the time message me back and don’t mind giving me the color mix I would appreciate it. Thanks.

The green for the Chevy was a bespoke colour designed specifically for our customer so sadly we can’t share the formula with anyone else.
